A fan of squishy foods and plants, Briar Piranian (see pronunciation) is a 30-something intersex artist (they/them) who loves representing the darker sides of personhood in their art and at-home D&D games (which will continue being played in 5e). They enjoy taking their time with the creative process and often spend years working on just one project.
Briar is a semiverbal autistic person who typically speaks in a flat tone (or ASL) and often comes across colder than they intend. This gets them into a lot of trouble IRL, but also makes them rather funny without trying. They may or may not register jokes made in their presence and are probably overstimulated right now.
They currently live with their (very adorable) partner in an unfortunate location, where they face off against multiple disabilities and a government that won’t acknowledge their queer identity.

The Manga
Nightblue is a dark passion project that began in late 2025.
A little bit of context: I’d spent most of my life avoiding sharing my art with the internet (the art anxiety is real, dolls). Events of the last five years have pushed me through multiple physical and financial breaking points, and with the political situation continuing to boil right over the pot, I eventually got angry enough to create this and put it out there.
In simple terms, this manga is my protest against abuse, modern slavery, exploitation, intersexism, and racism.
Of course, I couldn’t make it without also acknowledging the giants whose shoulders I’m standing on. This manga couldn’t exist without both Dungeons and Dragons and Baldur’s Gate 3, from which it takes its setting and a central character (Astarion).
