Subscriptions/Commissions
I do! Check out my commissions page to learn more!
It’s so nice of you to ask! I offer a variety of support options to cater to all. You’re welcome to help fund my work financially or simply support me by becoming a free subscriber. You can check out all the support options on my support page.
Yes! I have a page comparing all the different subscription plans.
It depends on which subscriber tier you choose. However, the short answer is: extra behind the scenes/WIP content, access to commissions, community polls, links to further reading content, and email updates. See this page to compare ever subscription plan (including the free one).
Keep up to date on the latest content by subscribing to this site. Alternatively, you’re welcome to follow me on my Tumblr or another social media platform. I’ve linked all my existing social media accounts below, but I’m more active on some accounts than others. I update this site and Tumblr most frequently.
Yes, most are common sense, but you can review them here.
About Briar Piranian
Of course! I am most active on Tumblr, but you can follow me at any of the following media sites.
The name is Armenian! Using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), it’s pronounced thusly: /Brl:ɔr/ /Pi.rɔn.i:æn/
Or, if you’d prefer to sacrifice phonetic specificity for lay simplicity, Briar (rhymes with wire), Piranian with (Pee – ron – ee-ann). Emphasis on the last syllable.
About Nightblue
YES. Nightblue follows the stories of two survivors as they experience and recover from involuntary human trafficking. I include content warnings at the start of each chapter. I also have a general content warning page that covers the manga in it’s entirety.
I’ve elected to use shorter-than-average chapters. Instead of following the traditional 15-40 page average, I organize my chapters on a scene-by-scene basis. As a result, some may be only a few pages long, while others may meet the traditional average of 15+ pages.
I chose this option to facilitate chapters being released more frequently. I erm…have a low STR stat, you see. I’m a rogue, mi’lord— good eye for pretty things, decent endurance, but very limited carrying capacity (for work as well as things). No, truth be told, my health has always been is a bit of a train wreck, and I have to be careful with how much work I take on.
The Making of Nightblue
I use a combination of manual and digital tools for drawing the manga. After writing everything out in script form, I create storyboards with a good old fashioned pencil and paper. This allows me to easily scrap what doesn’t work and quickly start over.
From there, I move to Affinity Studio, a free open source design software that I absolutely love. Everything else happens there. I start with basic pixel sketches, outlining the whole chapter before adding color and ink in vector.

Short answer: As often as possible, but there is no set schedule.
Long answer: Due to precarious health, I’ve chosen not to designate a specific timeline for this project. I find that when I respect my body’s need for rest, I’m ultimately able to complete more and better work than if I push through burnout.
Consequently, I may publish a lot of art at once or go some time between releasing new chapters. However, I’m dedicated to doing so as frequently as I’m able.
I don’t and will never use AI in any form to create art because not only is generative AI a form of intellectual property theft (not to mention horrible for the environment, middle class/disabled job market, and mental health of everyone who uses it), it’s utterly boring. It creates slop that I look at and immediately hate because even if it has all the right proportions and whatnot, it looks mass produced and average. In addition, I find that AI actively saps skills from those who use it regularly, and I’m interested in growing as an artist.
If you’re an artist who’s thinking a lot about how AI impacts you, I also have a lengthy post delving into the topic in greater depth.

Briar Piranian Art
Well met! I’m a rogue artist (they/them) who loves Dungeons and Dragons and squishy foods. Follow my ongoing manga featuring a romance between Astarion Ancunín and an original character hailing from the Underdark’s most notorious city. Read it—tell your friends about it—and above all, take good care of yourself.
